FAQ

What should I wear to the wedding?

The dress code is black tie. For men, this means a black suit or tuxedo, formal black dress shoes, dress shirt, tie or bow tie. For the ladies, this means floor length gowns made of a material suitable for eveningwear. Casual fabrics such as sundresses or stretch material are not permitted. This wedding is a safe space to go glam.

Do you have a wedding registry?

We do not have a registry, as gifts are not required or necessary! You making the trip to Florence to join us for a few special days is the gift itself. Thank you in advance to our guests for making the trip and time to celebrate together!

How should we get to the reception from the venue?

After the ceremony, there will be some time for Sarina & Henry to take photos together in the church, as well as with immediate family. Guests can remain in the church or outside the church during this period. Henry and Sarina will be driven to the reception venue, upon which point guests will be able to walk to Palazzo Corsini. This is a 5 minute walk (400m) along the Arno River. Our planning team will be there to guide you. Please be mindful of your shoe choice to account for unevenness in the sidewalks. Florence is an old city :)

What time does the wedding end?

We do have a hard cut off at 2:00 AM for our venue but we will have lots of time to enjoy together beforehand!

How to travel to Florence?

- If coming from Toronto, you can fly into Florence with a connecting flight. Common stopover flights are available through Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, etc. These are all good options and we would recommend choosing a stopover with a minimum of 1 hr 30 minutes in between each flight to allow time for your luggage to make it on to the next flight and avoid running to catch the next one.

- Alternatively, you can also fly directly into Rome then take a high speed train to Florence. Your destination station in Florence will be called “Firenze Santa Maria Novella”. Your origin station will either be Roma Fiumicino Aeroporto (take the train straight from the airport, less frequent options, 1-2 trains per day) OR Roma Termini (these run very frequently during the day but require you to transfer from Roma Aeorporto to Roma Termini, (around 30 minutes by train from the airport).

- You can buy your tickets in advance to get the best price on the ticket and to book seats together if you are in a group. If you want to be more flexible for time, you can also buy your tickets at the train station itself. Trains usually depart exactly on schedule and the train stations have dozens of platforms. We would recommend to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled train departure to avoid a rush.

- If not coming from Toronto, you will either find a direct flight to Florence, or a connecting flight with the same instructions as above :)

Where should we stay?

In terms of geography, we recommend staying on the North side of the Arno River and generally in the vicinity of the main squares such as Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza della Signoria. We recommend staying not too far west of Chiesa di San Salvatore in Ognissanti, not too far North of Cathedral di Santa Maria del Fiore, and not east of Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze. Florence is a relatively small city, and it’s hard to go wrong in choosing where to stay. If you find an option that works for you and is within 20 minutes walk to the church in Ognissanti Square, that will be perfect.

How to get around in Florence?

The best way to get around in Florence is by walking. However, you can also find or call taxis. If you are in an establishment like a hotel or restaurant they can call it for you. Or you can download "appTaxi" to order one, or call +39 055 4242 or +39 055 4390. You will easily be able to find a taxi from Florence airport or Santa Maria train station to take you to your hotel or Airbnb.

Where can I get beauty services done?

If you think you would like to book hair/makeup for the wedding, although not organized by us, we recommend the following places: Wave Salon (hair & makeup), Lapo Salon (hair), Sephora (makeup) and Maniboo (nails).

What is the weather like in October in Florence?

October generally offers mild temperatures, but it tends to be on the cooler side, especially in the mornings and evenings. You can expect daytime temperatures to be comfortable, often ranging between 15-20°C (59-68°F), while evenings may be cooler. We recommend bringing light layers and a jacket to stay cozy, especially if you’ll be spending time outdoors.
